Our Fruit

rchid Island Juice Company squeezes Florida Oranges 12 months of the year. There are over 15 different orange varieties grown in Florida, each with its own unique flavor, color, and aroma. We strive to produce a uniform juice, however, there will always be a variation in taste due to the many varieties used. We always use the sweetest most mature varieties available to make our juice.

Below is the chronological description of what to expect the juice to look and taste like.

January - March: During this time, the mid-season oranges are the predominant variety used in our juice. The juice is very aromatic, full of body, and a bright orange color.

March - September: During this time, we use late season oranges with the main variety being Valencia oranges. This is probably the best juice of the year. It is moderately aromatic, full of body, and deep orange in color.

October - December: Perhaps the most noticeable change in our juice occurs between September and October, when Valencias end and the Hamlins begin. We minimize this change by holding our Valencias to blend with the early oranges during October and November.

rchid Island Juice Company uses Indian River grapefruit which are world renowned for their sweet, robust flavor. In particular the grapefruit juice, which is as beautiful as it tastes, contains juice from delicious red and white grapefruit. In the end, our criteria for selecting grapefruit are always based on flavor and never on the color of the grapefruit.

e own or control many acres of citrus groves in Florida, and over the years we have perfected the technique of growing this wonderful citrus in tropical climates. The outcome is thinner-skinned tropical citrus with a higher volume of juice than desert citrus. Our lemon and lime juices are the most sought after by top chefs around the world because of their perfect flavor profile.
