Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company Botany Scholarship Recipients!
Bradley Clement, a senior at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, was one of two recipients of the 2009 State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida’s Botany Scholarship Award, sponsored by Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company. Bradley took the first place prize in the senior division at the Fair, which was held in Lakeland April 15 – 17. 
Bradley’s winning project: ”Evaluation of Grape DNA Sequence as Binary Borders for Agrobacterium Mediated Plant Transformation.” From all of us at OIJC — Congratulations Bradley!!!
The first place winner in the junior division and recipient of the Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company Botany Scholarship Award was Matthew Hewett, a student at Lakeland Highlands Middle School in Lakeland. Mathew’s project: “The Effects of Gravity on the Growth of Pea Plants.” Congratulations Matthew!!!
Local senior, Sarah Sarnoski, a student at Vero Beach High School, earned third place honors at the state competition.
Approximately 950 aspiring scientists and engineers, grades 6 – 12, who won their local science fairs competed for awards and scholarships. Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company sponsored the scholarship in the botany category to encourage future citrus endeavors. The event also provided a forum for students to share ideas with one another, increase personal development in scientific and technological areas and gain self-confidence in problem solving skills. Congratulations to all the competitors!
